What about teaching?
A discussion in the Moodle forum contains a couple longish posts from m,e (Stephen) on Connectivism and teaching. "Insofar as there is a pedagogy attached to Connectivism, I contend that it involves more and more removing students from a structured and managed classroom environment, and more and more providing means for them to be immersed in communities of practitioners, and for this to happen at a younger and younger age, and in addition, to more and more create in practitioners the expectation and responsibility of working openly and including new and inexperienced members into their communities."

Add a New Feed
Your Daily newsletter will contain not only content from the course instructors, but also content created by course participants. In order to do this, we are asking all participants to create blogs or some other place to record their thoughts and ideas. The RSS feeds from these will be collected and distributed through the newsletter.
We will provide more instruction on this through the week. But if you already know how to create an RSS feed, then we ask that we submit your RSS feed to us using this form. Once your feed is submitted, it will be harvested, and any item that contains the tag CCK09 in the title, text or category will be displayed in the newsletter.

Managing Your Moodle Subscriptions
The course discussion continues in the Moodle forums, and it may seem like it's getting harder and harder to keep up. The secret is to manage your Moodle subscriptions so you're moving along with the course.
Here's how to do it. Go to the Moodle course outline page here. You'll see the introductions and first five weeks displayed. Click on the earlier weeks - week 1, say - and you'll see a list of topics. In the upper right, click "unsubscribe from this forum". That will stop the emails from the previous weeks.
Next, use the back button (twice) and go back to the course outline. Click on 'Week 5'. That's this week. And on the link in the upper right, click on 'Subscribe to this Forum". Now you'll get the week 5 messages in your email as they come in. And while you're there, you can read the Week 5 posts that you've missed.

Understanding the Brain: The Birth of a Learning Science
Ruth Duggan comments "There does seem to be a lot of similaries between how the brain functions and Connectivism" and links to this website from OECD. There's a lot of reading here, so you may want to space this one out over a few days (or weeks). No rush: this topic is not going to expire.

Connectivism Course in Chilbo
This link offers you several things to explore - "The Chilbo community in Second Life will host a cohort of the Connectivism course to explore the affordances of using a 3D immersive environment as an optional component of the curriculum" and "The Connectivism Village will provide a 'neighborhood' and sandbox area for participants in the course."

Twitter Topic Feed
If you don't want to do the whole Twitter thing, but are wondering what people are saying about the course on Twitter, you can follow this Twitter comment feed. The idea is that people referring to the course use a 'hash-tag' - the tag 'CCK08' preceded by a hash (#) character - to include twitter posts in this feed. It's interesting to look at the conversation here about what's happening on a Moodle thread over there.
