Spring in the Air
Keith Lyons provides perhaps the most graphic illustration of the experience of CCK08 in this post. I don't know about Stephen, but I felt like the biker in the picture looks! From Keith: "Without being too dramatic the course transformed my life!...I have a real sense of a CCK family and am looking forward to CCK09."
I'm looking forward to how CCK09 will differ from last year's offering - we have many active learners who will be able to, I think, offer commentary on their experience last year and serve as course facilitators and guides for those who are taking the course for the first time.

Week 10 Utopia Amplified
I (George) have been trying to arrange a time to get Clarence Fisher to present to CCK08. His practical classroom work (grade 8 level, I believe) with technologies is a great example of how educators can use networks to create memorable learning experiences. Or, as Keith states in this post: "Clarence's post exemplifies how wonderful the education process is in the care of passionate teachers." Keith also talks about enlarging one's learning network. It's good to have many guides :).

Week 9 Stacks
Nice reflection of CCK08 activities from last week and the first half of this week. A thoughtful review of (and integration) power discussions, personal experiences, and seeing CCK08 concepts in unusual places.

The Alchemy of Give and Take
When Stephen and I first started designing this course, we tried to make our process public through blog posts on the main site and conversations with EdTechTalk. A key skill for, or expectation of, learners has been sensemaking and wayfinding. In a traditional course, the educator plays a disproportionate role in this by assigning readings and crafting additional activities around the reading. While those elements are included in CCK08, the scale of conversations and amount of reading and weekly activities are intended to be of such a volume as to make it impossible for one person to do it all. While this was/is frustrating at the start of a new learning experience, the hope is that learners will realize the futility of trying to follow everything (or relying on the educator to provide the path through). As a result of the overwhelming complexity, learners turn more to wayfinding and sensemaking on their own...rather than acquiring the patterns and views held by instructors. Keith Lyons provides a quick glimpse of some of the readings and resources he found valuable this week (not sure how many people attempted to read the entire 230 page document in one of our readings this week. Personal choices - knowing what we want to know, what is valuable information, what we can actually digest - become vital).

Week 6 The C Words and the D Words
Looks like week 6 is turning into a week of reflection. Perhaps it's the sense of "we're almost there...from here it's down hill!". Keith Lyons provides a personal review, covering slow blogging, complexity, chaos, and Alec's presentation: "his week has seemed like a catching of breath for me. I have not visited Moodle for some time but am keen to join Second Life given Fleep Tuque's work. I am finding that the richness of the blogs, the stimulus of The Daily and the emerging themes of the course are enabling me to link biography and the practice of connecting."

CCK08: Week 2 Early Doors and Better Fit
Interesting analogy between theorizing and parking. This is good: "Even when you park in a very open space some people think you have taken their parking spot and demand that you move. Sometimes they even put notes under your windscreen wiper to let you know just how angry they are!" Related: another analogy, this time with oceans.
