Mr Personal Learning Network
Stephen Downes (Downes) , October 25, 2010.
I found this image on Flickr, via the PLENK Twitter feed. I called it 'Connectivist Duckworks'. It is certainly the most creative concept map of a connectivist course I've seen. [Link] [Comment]

by Scott Johnson.  As an alternate offering I'd like to a rather more retro application for learning enhancement, a good teacher such as Daniel below. http://siwc.ca/2007/speaker_details.php?presenter_ID=1011 Daniel Wood, Author Vancouver's Daniel Wood is one of Canada’s best-known magazine writers, and winner of 31 regional or national writing awards. He's also the author of 14 books. His stories often deal with conflicts around .... [Link] 2010-10-26T03:32:34

Our Expertise?
, Week Seven General Discussion
by Eva Birger.   This week in PLENK2010 we are asked to help to build a comprehensive summation of what has been developed in the field of the personal learning environment. My suggestion "Let us first talk about our engagement with the tools we expierenced in order to to give our expertise." In my blog I have written a post that could provide a basis for it. http://viaplenk.wordpress.com/2010/10/25/tools-for-the-21st-century-teacher/ [Link] 2010-10-25T07:49:28

Exploring and Defining Influence: A New Study
iwoods2807, Delicious/tag/plenk
Can we assess the effectiveness of a PLE/PLN by using influence? Can we measure an individuals influence by looking at pingbacks or referrals to their literature? Is there a mechanism by which individuals or institutions (think universities) can rate the influence or effectiveness of a particular piece of work or an individual? Assessment then becomes a measure of how succesful your PLE is as expressed by your peers. Different institutions or individuals could award badges of merit to those .... [Link] 2010-10-25T21:59:53

Deliberating Over Success
noreply@blogger.com (Jim Stauffer), connectJim
I can assess my learning subjectively, based on how successfully I feel I am grasping new concepts, and by the degree of satisfaction I get from the connections I’m making. I can assess my learning objectively, based on whether I’m using digital tools in a new way to solve problems, whether I’m finding new ways to draw in adult students to engage with learning, whether the new connections I’m making with people are to our mutual benefit, and whether my blog & discussion postings .... What if we opened a grou.ps network ? #PLENK2010
, julia's PLENK2010 posterous
Linn's post, in which she looks at MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) from the perspective of what they would need to provide to make her pay for them, points out exactly those points all are missing: To experience the growth of a network, connecting the learning environments and manageable challenges that foster to find together towards collabroation on shared goals. But a network is just what we as students could add to the course, and tools like grou.ps are out there. (.... [Link] 2010-10-23T21:38:00

Collaborative Filtering Invitation for #PLENK2010 Participants

Crossposted from PLENK moodle forum. The mindmap embedded underneath is an initial access structure for ongoing collaborative view/access ceation. (#quality filtering) The idea is to link the posts and other resources we collected, the most valuable and enlightening ones, directly to the relevant topic, initially organized by course weeks/topic structure. And thus create better view and access for all of us. If you want to join, we can extend collaboration and explore new tools like .... [Link] 2010-10-20T16:18:00

UPDATE (15.10.200) Underneath, I post the preparatory text for "Lifetool"- page (working title) from the blog I recently prepare to present my projects, to update my first "not-really-a-post" here and give an explanation what the microsite I could not embedd here but posted though, is about. (Embedding works for netvibes and many other sites, and did on posterous some time ago.) I still hope I find the time to truly participate in PLENK2010 - I did not intend to promote my projects, .... PLENK 2010, Weeks 4-6: Learning Theories, Evaluation and Literacies
, Stephen's Web ~ OLDaily
Stefanie Panke, educational technology & change, October 22, 2010. Good update on how the PLENK course is going. "Despite the dwindling participation, the past three weeks were arguably the most interesting part of the course, exploring the theoretical background for personal learning environments, sharing experiences in evaluating the learning process in a PLE, and trying to define digital literacies for learning with PLEs." This is also the most interesting stuff for me. The .... [Link] 2010-10-22T15:44:52

Really nice collection of links for this week’s #PLENK2010 discussions. I especially liked Patterns of personal learning environments, Wilson. Being Successful with PLE
DClement@DCmc-Solutions.com (Didier), Learning PLENK
The things that draw my attention on the topic of being successful with PLE last week:Importance of learning question for filteringI think more and more that the first task in any PLE should be to define what you want to learn about, in the form of a question if possible.  It does not need to be very clear or specific but it help focusing the search (filter) and can be refine over time. What I value most is what integrateI find that I am less and less interested in wordy blogs or long ....
