Day 3: PLE/N conference

Steve Wheeler will be presenting today at 11:00 am CST
(Time zone conversion). Steve posted his slides for the presentation on Monday. Looking forward to a great presentation...you can participate here in elluminate. (feeling a bit guilty, however, by Steve's high standards. Can't remember the last time I had a presentation ready three days before an event!)

Highlighted Resources

A Chat with Stephen Downes: OER
Not sure if I've seen Stephen link to this, but, since it's an interview he had with Creative Commons, I'll highlight it here. From the interview: "My mission is to make it so that every person around the world has full access to educational opportunities and equal opportunity to make the most of their lives. Open educational resources are an important part of that because, of course, access to open materials enables all of that. So what I do works hand in hand with open educational resources in the sense that a lot of what I'm up to is building and recommending networks and structures to facilitate the easy creation, easy reuse and redistribution of resources, and ideally, these are free in every sense of the word resources." Recordings: PLE/N Conference
Recordings from Day 2 of the PLE/N conference have been posted. I noticed as well that Stephen has added audio files from Day 1 sessions.

I'm in a lovely hotel in Lisbon...but my connection speed is about as bad as I've had in years. I will try to find a better quality connection at the conference venue today in order to participate. Feeling a bit isolated from CCK09 :). , , October 15, 2009 [Link] [Tags: none] [Comment]

Learning theory or something else?
One of the questions asked in our assigment is - is connectivisim a new theory of learning? The thing that is bugging me about this is it seems to be a learning theory for a very specific group of people - learners who have developed to the point where a connected network is possible for them. Then it seems like an extension of the previous theories - a point to get to.Questions still floating October 14, 2009

inspired by these massively open courses - #cck09 and #eci831 - but they over-rely on synchronous sessions and do not offer podcasts
